Johnson was President of Bowen Securities Company, where he structured equity and debt financing for over 600 apartments in five Northwest States utilizing Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Equity financings included capital funded through Broker-Dealers as well as direct equity placements with institutional investors. Debt financings included pre-development, construction, permanent, and equity bridge loans, as well as bond financings.
Johnson served as Senior Vice President and National Sales Manager for the Enterprise Securities division of Advest, Inc, a New York Stock Exchange Broker/Dealer. While with Advest, he was responsible for structuring and marketing their Affordable Housing Tax Credit partnership, one of the first publicly offered. From 1984 through 1989 Johnson was Executive Vice President, and National Sales Manager of Sierra Capital Companies, a San Francisco based sponsor of Real Estate Investment Trusts (“REITs”). During his career he has been responsible for funding approximately $500,000,000 in equity for various projects from both institutions and private investors.
Mr. Johnson’s development experience dates to the 1970’s when he was employed by Vail Associates, Inc., the owner/operator of the Vail resort in Colorado. Mr. Johnson served as Manager of Building and Hotel Development as well as Director of Venture Finance for Beaver Creek, the Company’s year-round resort development a few miles west of Vail. In this capacity, he structured equity joint ventures used to fund hotel and condominium projects. He also served on the management committee directing overall development of the resort. During this same period, Johnson participated in several private ventures including resort acquisition and condominium rehabilitation and sales.
Mr. Johnson is a graduate of Holy Cross College holding a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Accounting. His Masters of Business Administration is from the Amos Tuck School of Dartmouth College.
